Brian James O’Connell Workshop – Position Play
A one-day intermediate to advanced improv workshop teaching Position Play scene dynamics with Brian James O’Connell.
Brian James O’Connell teaches the skills to find your “position” in the scene and then play it to the hilt. Position Play, invented by Miles Stroth, helps you understand and execute the scene dynamics of the Four Basic Scene Types: Logical/Absurd, Character Driven, Alternate Reality and Realistic. If you learn the tools and techniques to play these scenes, your other stage choices will come from renewed confidence and successful fun.
Topics include “Thing. Concept. Idea.”, “The Five Scenes Everyone Tells You NOT To Do But Darn It They Come Up On Stage Anyway”, “Playing Archetypes”, “Mapping Characters” and more. This workshop focuses on practical applications of improv and providing replicable good habits and behaviors on stage. The goal is to be able to take the workshop during the day and execute the practice on stage that night.
Level: Intermediate to Advanced. Minimum previous experience: Improv Basics or equivalent.
Venue: Unscrewed Theater 4500 E. Speedway Blvd. #39 Tucson, AZ 85715
