Anthem for Dissatisfaction

"Don’t Look Back in Anger" could be the tag line of SkelpieLimmer Productions’ bold and unashamedly loud play Anthem for Dissatisfaction by playwright Gina Donnelly. Jamie and Sarah, two Irish, Irish-twins (born in the same year but not the same day), are living their best lives in Belfast. They share a room, a love of music and two parents, barely scraping by. As we witness their life move through school and university years into adulthood, you quickly realise this isn’t a play telling us the story of two siblings growing up; this is a protest piece screaming about the state of the nation and the unfairness that the world can throw at us. Set to a soundtrack of Oasis, Bruce Springsteen and Sam Fender, we watch as the two best pals find a way to fend for themselves and forge a route through the grief and misery life throws at them, standing strong together and standing up for what they believe in—even when the chips are down.
