Adventures in Art

Adventures in Art is our weekly multi-disciplinary art workshop for adults. The sessions are usually in Studio 4 on the first floor, accessible via lift, stairs or external ramp.

We have a variety of tutors who will deliver 3 or 4 weeks in a row, and then a different tutor will take over with a new creative discipline/project, which could include printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, clay, collage, journaling, crafts like macramé and more. No experience is necessary – everyone is very welcome. It’s a great way of having a go and trying new things in a very friendly and relaxed group, working at your own pace, supported by an experienced tutor. All materials are provided – no need to bring anything with you except maybe an apron or old clothes, as some activities can get messy! We do have aprons you can borrow in the studio.

Participants must be aged 18+. Although there is no need to book in advance, we do advise booking ahead of each session if you can, as places are limited and sessions do fill up. If the course/workshop you’d like to book is sold out, we operate a waiting list – contact our box office team on 0116 252 2455 or arts-centre@le.ac.uk to be added. Courses/workshops are non-refundable if cancelled within 21 days of the start date.

Upcoming Workshops: Tuesdays, 10am – 12pm. 5 May: Magazine Posca art with Bonita Keay. 12 & 19 May: Printmaking with Jo Shearer. 26 May: Introduction to stitch crafts including Bargello and embroidery with Bonita Keay. 2, 9 & 16 June: Clay sculpture projects with Austin Orwin. 23 & 30 June: Printmaking with Jo Shearer. 7, 14, 21 & 28 July: Mixed media abstract work with Bonita Keay. Tutors and activities may be subject to change at short notice.

We aim to make all our sessions as accessible as possible and carers/PAs are very welcome – please book their free place when you book. We have four blue badge parking spaces outside Attenborough Arts Centre and nearby roadside parking for blue badge holders. Free parking for customers is available after 5pm.
