Three Washington DC singer‑songwriters and an abrasive punk‑prog band share a night of intimate indie rock and lo‑fi folk at Songbyrd
SABEL JANE is the new solo project of D.C.-based artist Izzy Burke. Most known for her work with celebrated rock acts Cherub Tree, Modest Goddess, Roscoe Tripp, and Venray, as well as dream-pop duo Letters to Delphi, Burke is now stripping away the noise to highlight her incisive lyricism, evocative vocals, and ear for understated yet compelling compositions. Blending intimate singer-songwriter lyricism and a lo-fi folk aesthetic with the unabashed intensity of 90s female-fronted indie rock, Sabel Jane is her offering to those who crave the cutting, alt rock edge of PJ Harvey alongside the consolatory tenderness of Adrianne Lenker; to the ones who seek out both the emotional rawness of Elliott Smith and the poetic abstractions of Patti Smith; and to listeners who can appreciate the weight of silence as much as that of sound.
XK Scenario is a Punk/Prog/Hip-Hop/Jazz band based out of Falls Church, VA led by vocalist Kaleab Elias and guitarist Alex Menick. They have over a decade of experience playing and performing music. They have shared stages with Flobots, Scream, Soulside, The Messthetics, and Ian MacKaye.
They combine technical and cerebral music with simple and emotional performances, once described as "Rage Against The Machine on bath salts." The lyrics crafted by lead vocalist Kaleab are born from a lifetime of voracious reading and confrontation with the hardships of life.
Grace A. Keller is a Washington, DC based singer-songwriter whose music lives in the space between longing and self-discovery. She is also the frontwoman of the indie rock band Hotel Sewing Kit. Her solo work is rooted in emotional honesty, combining reflective lyricism, delicate guitar, and a tender vocal style inspired by artists like Adrianne Lenker, Elliott Smith, and Tracey Thorn.
