Mirror 9
Franz von Chossy performs Mirror 9, a nine-movement suite translating the Enneagram personalities into music with live piano and filmed ensemble
Mirror 9 is a nine-part suite exploring the diversity of human personality, inspired by the nine types of the Enneagram. Each movement reflects a distinct way of seeing, feeling, and being in the world—a musical mirror of a particular inner landscape.
This performance is both a concert and an invitation into the underlying system: a glimpse into how the Enneagram functions, and how its psychological patterns are translated into sound.
Pianist and composer Franz von Chossy presents Mirror 9 in an unusual setting. As the sole live performer, he is joined on screen by his ensemble—appearing in shifting environments, from concert stage to recording studio. Interwoven visuals introduce the different personality types, offering musical and psychological insights into each archetype.
Franz von Chossy has established himself as a constant force in the Dutch and international music scene. Known for his boundary-pushing compositions and genre-crossing approach, he won the Dutch Jazz Competition with his trio for their “original, dynamic, and often virtuosic interplay” and received the “Best Soloist” award for his subtle, spacious, and personal playing. In 2009, he also took second place in the prestigious Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition.
Von Chossy’s albums include Awakening (2006), Pendulum (2009), When the World Comes Home (2012), Life Theater (2019), and Mirror 9 (2025). Through extensive tours in over 50 countries he received the “Golden Magnolia” award at the 6th Shanghai International Art Festival (2018) and the “Best Musical Act” award at the Guangzhou Art Fair (2021).
This performance is organised in collaboration with the Stichting IEA Nederland.
