BLUE EP RELEASE
Blue presents the EP "Leas Celyn": a genre-blending live set of neo-soul, indie and jazz with poetry, free entry from 20:00 at Pilar
Resident @bbbluebleu who brings her EP-release to Pilar on the 30th of June 🔵
'Leas Celyn' is a summary of a journey that required more than just courage. It’s a collection of the experiences, stories and feelings that Blue collected on the journey from Austria to Belgium. It is a journey of sacrifice and growth, confrontation and self-love, heritage and herstory.
It allowed her to blend sounds and genres and be 'too much'. Influenced by alternative rock, ska, punk, DnB, indie, neo soul, jazz and blues, Blue found pleasure in RnB, trip hop, classical music and psychedelic in Belgium. With the help of Yohan, her bassist, and Andres, her pianist, she took it all and merged it.
She goes against the stereotypes placed upon her as a black female vocalist and poet. She gave her poetry the opportunity to emerge as a genre in its own right and become an important part of the EP.
'Leas Celyn', meaning 'holly garden' in ancient Celtic/Gaelic, is the translation of Blue's first name, 'Leslie'. This ties the whole picture together, highlighting the importance of names and the power of their roots.
The sound of vulnerability, the sound of Blue.
Starting at 8PM, free entrance!
