Bridge Engineering Challenge
Does your child enjoy building, problem-solving, and hands-on design challenges? In this engineering-focused session, participants will work collaboratively to design and construct a bridge using provided materials that can support a specified amount of weight. Students will explore how engineers plan, test, and refine structures to meet real-world constraints such as strength, balance, and load-bearing capacity. Through experimentation and teamwork, participants will discover how design choices impact performance.
Learning Outcomes • Identify and apply basic engineering principles to design a bridge that can support a designated load. • Build, test, and improve the design of a prototype.
Participants: Children aged 8 - 13 years old
Update (06/19/26): this session has been changed from the Egg Drop Challenge to the Bridge Engineering Challenge
