Los Pacaminos
Tex‑Mex band Los Pacaminos bring their long‑running lively roots set to Ropetackle Arts Centre.
Los Pacaminos is a Tex‑Mex band formed by pop star Paul Young in 1992. Originally a six‑piece, the group grew tighter with each show and soon began writing original songs. Pedal steel player Melvin Duffy joined in 1997 and became a permanent member.
The band released their first album in 2002, a collection of 12 originals drawing on Tex‑Mex influences such as the Texas Tornados, The Sir Douglas Quintet and Flaco Jimenez, alongside inspirations like Ry Cooder, Calexico, Roy Orbison and Chuck Berry. The album helped establish their reputation in the Tex‑Mex scene.
Despite the loss of founding member Matt Irving in 2015, Los Pacaminos continue to perform widely. Now together for over 30 years with several studio and live albums, they are releasing a third studio album of original songs and maintain an acclaimed live reputation.
