LEARN: Charts, Stars & Making Things
Family drop‑in with hands‑on maritime and space activities, crafts and a PocKit Robot episode at The Brewhouse
Charts, Stars & Making Things
Whether you're curious about what lies beneath the ocean or what's out there beyond the stars, this half term drop-in is for families who like to explore.
Come and meet some of the team from the UK Hydrographic Office — Taunton's own guardians of over 400 years of maritime history — and find out how the world's seas are charted, measured and navigated. There'll be activities to get hands on with, and it's a rare chance to hear from the people who help ships find their way around the world's oceans.
PocKit Robot will also be joining us with a brand new episode to share — featuring a friendly alien from outer space who has been navigating the cosmos in search of life. Their kind of charts are a little more... galactic.
There will also be a craft activity to help us make tiny boats and other seafaring curios for Mowenna Mapwize's office in the gallery this Christmas. You can take one home too!
Pop in any time, stay as long as you like. It all ties in with Treasure Island on stage at the Brewhouse this Christmas — because whether you're crossing oceans or exploring the universe, every adventure needs a good map.
