Four weekly teen Python workshops (grades 8–12) at Maggie Nightingale Library; bring a laptop

Gain confidence in coding in this fun, four-part series at the Maggie Nightingale Library! No prior experience with coding necessary. For grades 8th to 12th. Participants must attend all four sessions. Please bring your own laptop if possible. The library has a limited number of laptops for use.

Class 1: Meet Python, set up your PyCharm coding environment, and learn how to make your computer talk using text and print statements!

Class 2: Discover how programs store information using variables, explore numbers and text, and build your own mini calculator.

Class 3: Think like a programmer by mapping out code with pseudocode and learn how to make your apps react to real-time user inputs.

Class 4: Give your program a "brain" using smart conditional logic (if/else) to calculate custom bills for your very own interactive Ice Cream Parlor app!

Meet your teacher: Aditi (Adi) is finishing her B.S. in Information Systems at UMBC, where she's studied network engineering, programming, data science, and business fundamentals. She has over two years of experience teaching STEM subjects, including middle and high school math and science, AP Statistics and Calculus, and SAT/ACT preparation.
