LALALAR
Lalalar fuse Rumi’s verses with dark glitchy electronics in an intimate concert at Casa Capitão
With their new single “Hapisteler Ama Yeniliğe Doğru”, Lalalar shine the light of Rumi’s 750-year-old verses onto the shadows of today. What was written in the 13th century still strikes with urgency, reflecting the unrest and resilience of contemporary Istanbul.
The track pays tribute to Tülay German & François Rabbath’s 1981 recording “Hommage à Nâzım Hikmet” in Paris. Like a dream within a dream, it becomes an homage within an homage—where voices of resistance and renewal echo across borders and time.
Sound-wise, Lalalar never miss a beat. Dark, glitchy, and industrial—melancholic to the bone—the music propels Rumi’s words into the chaos of the present, fusing ancient longing with razor-sharp electronics. It is a bridge across centuries, compelling us to confront the contradictions of our age and the hope that refuses to die.
