Dispair
Ersan Mondtag presents new monumental sculptures and installations exploring memory, solidarity and fragile communities.
On the occasion of Berlin Art Week DITTRICH & SCHLECHTRIEM presents Dispair, Ersan Mondtag’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. Working at the intersection of visual art, theatre, opera, and film, Mondtag brings together sculpture, installation, performance, and space into a shared visual language.
Conceived specifically for DITTRICH & SCHLECHTRIEM, Dispair presents a new body of work featuring monumental sculptures in carbonized wood alongside reliefs in wood and silicone. Continuing his longstanding investigation into memory, transience, and collective experience, the exhibition reflects on solidarity, the fragility of communities and the social and political structures that shape them.
