Legendary Japanese producer DJ Krush performs an atmospheric set blending trip‑hop and abstract hip‑hop at Strange Brew.
DJ Krush is a pioneering figure in global hip-hop and electronic music, emerging from Tokyo’s street scene in the late ’80s before launching a solo career in 1992. Inspired by Wild Style, he helped shape Japan’s early hip-hop movement before gaining international acclaim with his debut albums Krush and Strictly Turntablized via Mo’ Wax.
Through landmark releases including Meiso, Kakusei and Ki-Oku (with Toshinori Kondo), he became a defining voice in trip-hop and abstract hip-hop, known for his atmospheric, minimalist production style.
Across a decades-spanning career, he has collaborated with artists including Herbie Hancock and Bill Laswell, scored film and TV, and won the AFIM Award for Zen.
Recent albums including Butterfly Effect, Kiseki, Cosmic Yard, Trickster and 2024’s Saisei continue to evolve his sound. With global tours and a 30+ year legacy, DJ Krush remains one of electronic music’s most influential and enduring artists.
